Living the Pura Vida: Our Transformative Experiences in Costa Rica

I’ve just finished one of the most incredible, soul-stirring adventures I've had in Costa Rica over the last few years! Picture this: a group of amazing women, a stunning beach house with ocean views that’ll make your heart skip a beat, and a week jam-packed with life-changing moments. From June 2-9, 2024, we dove headfirst into the Pura Vida lifestyle, embracing nature, pushing our limits, and finding the clarity and purpose we’ve been craving. Immersing in Nature’s Beauty

Our home for the week was a spacious house perched above the pristine Hermosa Beach in the Guanacaste region, Costa Rica. Imagine waking up to the sound of birds singing and the sight of a glorious sunrise over the jungle. It was the perfect backdrop for our journey of self-discovery and rejuvenation. Costa Rica’s natural beauty didn’t just set the stage; it became an active participant in our adventure. 

One of the absolute highlights? Our day at Diamante Eco Park. We ziplined through lush canopies, toured an animal sanctuary, and met Lucy the sloth—slow and steady wins the race, right? And don’t get me started on the butterfly house; it was like stepping into a living, breathing rainbow. Oh, and the chocolate and coffee-making demonstrations? Let’s just say, “delicious” doesn’t even begin to cover it!

Another highlight was our sunset catamaran cruise. Picture this: sailing into the sunset, dolphins frolicking alongside us, whales making guest appearances, and snorkeling in beautiful waters with a giant sea turtle. It was like a scene straight out of a movie, but better because we were living it.

Personal Growth

Throughout the week, we did the work that each of us came to do. We reflected, learned new skills, journaled, and created intuitive paintings that were nothing short of transformative. Held by our pool (yes, we had a pool!), follow up conversations were relaxed, safe, and were the perfect place to give each other feedback about our personal obstacles and action plans for positive change.

As retreat facilitator, I brought in a mix of research and personal experience to both nurture and challenge each attendee. The result? A profound sense of clarity and direction that empowered each woman to make confident, life-affirming decisions.
